2. DUTIES:
The person hired will join the 2 laboratory.- Molecular Mechanisms Program The main duties and tasks to be carried out within the research project/s will be, among others:
The successful candidate will develop an exciting project aiming at understanding effective therapeutic responses and drug resistance of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients to a new immunotherapy treatment. To this end, she/he will generate advanced HCC organoid models from responsive and resistant patients to identify possible mechanisms of resistance and therapeutic vulnerabilities to overcome them using several omics-based experimental avenues.
This work will be made in close collaboration with a network of clinical and basic scientists that is funded by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association against Cancer (ASPIRE project, 2024 AECC 70% Survivorship Challenge call). Within this framework, the tasks of the person selected include:
1. Develop and characterizing advanced HCC organoid models using primary patient samples.
2. Perform multi-omics analyses to identify biomarkers of response and resistance.
3.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists to validate findings and translate insights into new therapeutic strategies.
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE CALL
General Requirements:
3.1. Nationality: Hold Spanish nationality, the nationality of a member country of the European Union or be a foreigner with a residence and work permit for Spain. The signing of the contract is subject to the successful candidate's compliance with the requirements of current employment legislation. In case of non-compliance with the requirements, the next candidate will be contacted in ranking order.
3.2. Legal capacity: Be at least 18 years of age and able to enter into a contract for the provision of their work, following the provisions of Article 7 of the Workers' Statute.
3.3. Functional capacity: Not be affected by any mental or physical limitation that prevents the performance of the corresponding duties.

Doctoral degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine, or a related field). Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment.
Experience:
1. Experience in organoid cell culture (preferentially, for hepatocellular carcinoma, although similar experience in other tumors can also qualify).
2. Verified skills in cell culture, Molecular Biology, and omics analyses.
3. Verified skills in in vivo experiments.
4. Fluent in English (Level B2 or above)
5. It will be valued at least one (first-author) research paper during your Ph.D.
6. It will be valued Official Accreditation to perform Animal Experimentation (A,B,C)
Additional knowledge: Candidates with additional experience with big data analyses, and coding with R and/or Python will be prioritized.

The candidate will join the research group led by Dr. Nuria Ferrándiz at the Cancer Research Center in Salamanca (IBMCC-CSIC). The project focuses on understanding the integrity of micronuclear membranes and their role in tumorigenic transformation. The main duties will include:
- 1.Cell culture and genetic manipulation, including lentivirus production, transduction, transfection, and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing.
- 2.Live-cell imaging using confocal microscopy, along with quantitative image analysis.
- 3.Proteomic assays, including the purification of extracts enriched in micronuclei.
- 4.Quantitative data analysis using R and formal statistical methods.
- 5.Support in the setup and organization of a new research laboratory focused on the role of endomembranes in genome stability.
- 6.Execution of basic molecular and cell biology techniques, such as PCR, immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, and immunofluorescence.
- 7.Management and maintenance of laboratory stocks, cell cultures, and experimental records.
- 8.Collaboration in general laboratory organization, as well as providing technical support to junior researchers and trainees.
